What am I actually doing wrong?
We all know this situation: you are late because you decided to put on that beautiful skirt at the last moment. Now it's time to get rid of the hair on your legs! You quickly hop into the shower and, being pressed for time, shave your legs with the dull razor that has been lying in the bathroom for ages. Instead of the recommended shaving gel, you quickly use your normal shower gel (or even shampoo!) instead of shaving cream.
This is exactly what causes irritation and small dark spots on the skin. Simply put, the hair follicles are inflamed and the skin is irritated. This phenomenon is particularly common in people with a lot of hair. In addition to pimples appearing after shaving, another issue arises: strawberry skin.
How to shave properly in order to prevent dark spots:
1.) Replace your razor blades regularly:
Dull blades are an absolute no-go when it comes to hair removal and cannot give you a clean shave. Fresh blades are gentler on the skin and ensure a clean shave.
2.) Regular exfoliation and using mild toners before shaving:
We recommend exfoliating the legs regularly. A body scrub helps to remove dead skin cells and ingrown hairs from the pores. A mild toner gently cleanses the skin after having used a body scrub and also removes impurities.
3.) Sufficient moisture
Dry skin is particularly prone to excessive sebum production. This clogs the pores, causes unsightly pimples and results in strawberry skin. After shaving, use a moisturising lotion that has a soothing effect on the skin (preferably a gentle, fragrance-free formula).
