Relaxation for Sun-Stressed Skin

Relaxation for Sun-Stressed Skin

Sweat, UV rays, sea and chlorine water: these and many other factors can cause severe stress on your skin during summer and lead to irritation. Give your skin a break after the hot summer months and provide it with what it needs most: Nutrients and moisture!

Blemishes, redness and irritation are often hard to get under control. But before you reach for the next "anti-blemish" tube, we would like to give you a few useful and simple tips on how to supercharge your skin's own processes.

Less is more

Cleansers, toners, serums, facial oils, sunscreens and moisturisers are all part of your standard routine yet your skin still feels dry? Your skin is irritated and reacts with painful blemishes due to sweat and sunbathing? These are clear signs that your skin is stressed and desperately needs a break.

Did you know...

... applying creams to the skin constantly causes the corneal layer to swell? Extensive skincare routines and products result in the skin not activating its natural functions, such as the regeneration process. The result: the skin's barrier function is disturbed and can hardly defend itself against external influences. Pimples, redness, pigmentation spots, small wrinkles and an overproduction of sebum are often the result thereof.

Give your skin a break

- Try to avoid as many skin care products as possible at first and, if possible, do not wear make-up for a longer period of time.

- Try a cleansing oil instead of a cleansing lotion or face wash. It may sound like a contradiction, but oily and blemish-prone skin responds particularly well to this method. Oil cleanses the skin very gently without irritating the skin barrier or even making it permeable. Curious? Here is our recommendation >> Organic Cleansing & Detox Oil by PURE SKIN FOOD.

- Keep your skincare steps to an absolute minimum.

- Use only small amounts of skincare at a time.

- Avoid the sun as much as possible until your skin has recovered.

- Use only very mild products (preferably for sensitive skin types) for a longer period of time.

- Avoid anything that could further irritate your skin, e.g. chemical peels, during this recovery period. Peels can be very helpful for blemished skin, but it is important to distinguish between what is causing the blemishes. Sun-stressed skin should never be treated with peelings.

- Say NO to: rich, thick night creams, very rich and aggressive anti-acne creams.
